When my friend said let’s go to Ibiza! The first thing that popped into my mind was late night partying and my body cringed. ‘It’s not really up my alley.’ I said.
‘C’mon! It’s more than a party destination. Even Oprah loves it! There is something for everyone on any budget.’ she belts out.
Needless to say, she convinced me and I found out firsthand she was right. You can just relax and chill in Ibiza.
The key is the area where you stay, what you do, and making sure you rent a car to explore the island.
For the idyllic relax vibe, stay in the serene bayside town of Santa Eulalia. Here you’ll find the likes of ME Brand and Nikki Beach. Or rent an AirBnb in the resorts of Cala Llonga or Es Canar.
Those seeking a bit more energy, an easier and quicker access to famous beach clubs and more options for a night out, stay in Playa d’en Bossa or Ibiza town.
We stayed at Hotel Playasol The New Algarb just a little bit off the strip of Playa d’en Bossa because we wanted to check out Kygo and Black Coffee. It also gave us quick access to the airport, Ibiza town, Salinas Beach, and Blue Marlin.
Watch the sunset over the famous rock of Es Vedra at Cala D’Hort
Centered in myths of being a part of the lost city of Atlantis and basking in the mystery of numerous UFO sightings, Es Vedra is a rocky island standing tall off of the coast of Cala D’Hort. Many people gather along the coastline to practice spiritual activities and to get inspiration, for it is also believed to be the third most magnetic place on earth. It is here along the cliff of Cala D’Hort you can see the impressive landscape basking in the magnetic glow of the sunset.
Go Under the Sea
Ibiza’s crystal, clear blue waters are perfect for discovering what is under the sea. You can rent your own gear and go snorkeling on your own. Cala Conta, Aguas Blancas or Cala Salada are beaches to check out that offers a ton of marine life below the clear water and coves just off the beach.
For those who are more adventurous, Punta Dive takes you to discover a shipwreck off of the Port of Ibiza. In 2007, Don Pedro ferry crashed into a gigantic rock and it now sleeps with barracudas and other fishes 46 meters deep. Another favorite site among Ibiza divers is the Caves of Light – Pillars of Hercules where there are large caves and with interesting rock formations and find an abundance of sea life.
Get Lost in Dalt Vila
Visit the old town of Ibiza City. It is home to many UNESCO World Heritage sights. Stroll along the cobblestone streets and the narrow alleyways and you’ll find Ibiza Castle and the famous city walls. On various streets you will find cute restaurants and shops. One of my favorite restaurants is La Oliva. It’s in the heart of the old town and on one of the most romantic streets serving Mediterranean Asian fusion dishes. Tip: Call ahead to make a reservation.
Take a Kayak Trip
Take a break from the beach and jump in a kayak to see Ibiza from a new perspective. Most kayak tours will take you along the coast of crystal waters and paddle through to explore secret caves and secluded beaches.
Kayak Ibiza is a popular tour agency that will take you on this adventure. For an unforgettable adventure, experience the beauty of Ibiza’s golden hour on their sunset kayak trip. Say cheers to the day with a glass of cava. WalkingIbiza is also another that offers guided sunset kayak tours and hikes around the island.
Day Trip To Formentera
Hop on a ferry and head to Formentera for the day. This Balearic island is less than 10 kim way from Ibiza. It takes between 30 -60 minutes on a ferry depending on the type you take. This place is laid-back, refined and has an organic vibe. You will be dazzled by the pristine beaches and your taste buds will be tantalized with some gourmet Italian food. This is a beautiful island to go relax and refresh yourself and one of the best places to be for a sunset cocktail.
Yoga on the Beach
Start your day and align your mind and body. Amante Ibiza offers morning yoga class on the beach. After class, enjoy a breakfast buffet that is included within your session in a luxury oasis perched on cliff next to the sea. For those who want to skip yoga and just enjoy the tranquil environment, come for a drink, dine, and relax on their beach beds. Their sister beach club, Aiyanna also oozes beachside cool. Book your beach bed and vege out (literally) under the colorful boho artisan umbrellas while enjoying some healthy delicious food.
Sail Around a Catamaran
Hop on a Catamaran and sail to the best beaches of Formentera or Ibiza. If you’ve got the money rent your own private boat. If you are price conscious, AirBnb Experience Ibiza does offer a relaxing day cruising on a catamaran enjoying what nature has to offer.
You will share the experience with 10 other people but hey! it’s a fun way to meet other travelers. Expect to visit two to three beaches, where you can swim, snorkel or go to the beach with its auxiliary boat. There will also be time for lunch at a chiringuito.
So indulge in the Eivissa (Ibiza) state of mind. Let your hair be messy, let your nose be sunkissed and let the breeze and waves wash away your worries when you visit Ibiza.
